Fire Breather at WaterFire Kansas City One of the most intriguing sights you will see anywhere is happening at Kansas City's Country Club Plaza Saturday, October 7 from 7 – 10 p.m. WaterFire Kansas City presents its 11th annual performance in and along the banks of Brush Creek – a unique, multi-sensory experience of water and fire, music and dance. The focal point of WaterFire, brainchild of award-winning sculptor Barnaby Evans, is a flotilla of large blazing braziers floating down Brush Creek. It creates an ambience unlike anything else – flickering firelight dancing toward the night sky and reflecting off the water with the fragrance of aromatic wood smoke wafting in the autumn breeze. All the while, live vocals, instrumental music, dance and acrobatics are performed in boats floating alongside the braziers and in various stages along the way. The 2017 WaterFire entertainment offerings include the ever-popular Quixotic, an innovative performance art collective that fuses imagination with technology, dance and mapping projection, StoneLion Puppet Theatre, Rhythmic Flames, Kansas City Drum Tribe, Trio Forte and renowned operatic tenor Ben Gulley. In addition to the entertainment, several Plaza restaurants will serve up food and drink from pop-up stands to the throng gathered along the banks of Brush Creek for an awe-inspiring experience. Visitors and locals who book a room or special package at The Raphael or secure a coveted spot on the patio courtyard enjoy a great vantage point from which to experience WaterFire. Those wanting an extended evening of dining and entertainment may come early to enjoy the hotel's Strings on the Green outdoor concert series finale from 4 – 7 p.m. along with food and drink specials – or choose to reserve a cozy spot in Chaz on the Plaza for a delightful dinner served throughout the evening in the restaurant or live jazz in the lounge from 7 to 11 p.m.Â
